Class Meetings: Monday, 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Room102 Kirby Hall Course Overview This course explores how entrepreneurial ventures are formed—specifically in the early stages as commercially viable ideas are transformed into a business plan. We will explore idea generation, innovation, behaviors of entrepreneurs, venture creation process, feasibility analysis, and business planning. Since no previous coursework in the field of entrepreneurship is required for this course, we will also touch upon fundamental entrepreneurial and business skills. I fully understand that many students may not become entrepreneurs. Therefore, I designed this course to provide salient and practical education for the nascent entrepreneur as well as the nascent business person. The primary goal of this course is to provide you a fundamental knowledge of how ideas are commercialized, a valuable skill for any job seeker or entrepreneur. This course is not a lecture course. This course utilizes a variety of teaching methods including concept development, case analysis, and class discussion. The class discussion relies on you to offer relevant insights and questions that stem from your understanding of course material, personal experiences, and current events. My objective is to maximize the learning process so that all students gain meaningful insights and skills. Learning is a partnership between instructor and student.
