AbstractObjective：The objective of this study was to find the possible role of soluble cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated antigen- 4 (sCTLA-4) in the formation of Sero-resistance in early syphilis patients.Methods:There were three groups in this study. Group A: the serofast syphilis patients; Group B: the syphilis patients who had negative results after treatment; Group C: the healthy people as controlsThe serum levels of sCTLA-4 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay（ELISA） in 60 serofast syphilis patients(group A), compared with 20 syphilis patients who had negative results after treatment (group B)and 20 healthy people ascontrols (group C). And we also compared the level of sCTLA-4 with the serum fixed drop (RPR test) and the stage of syphilis.Results:The level of sCTLA-4 was significantly higher in group A than in those two controls（P＜ 0.05）, however there was no significant difference between group B and group C ( P＞0.05).
