AbstractThispresentthesisaimstoexplorethecharacteristicsofthesyntacticstructureofChinaEnglish(SSCE)incomparisonwiththesyntacticstructureofStandardEnglish(SSSE).English,asaninternationallanguage,hasbecomeamultinational,multicultural,andmultifunctionallanguage.Theappearanceoftheterm“Englishes”reflectsthefactthatEnglishisnolongerwhatitusedtobe.ItnolongerlimitstoAmericanEnglishandBritishEnglish,CanadaEnglish,AustralianEnglish,hewesterncountries.WealsofocusonEnglishintheeasterncountriessuchasSingaporeanEnglish,IndianEnglishaswellasourownEnglish--ChinaEnglish.Inthepasttwodecades,ChinaEnglishhasundergoneanunstableexperience.In1980,thetermChinaEnglishwasusedinMr.GeChuangui’sarticletorefertothingsandphenomenawithChinesecharacteristics.ThecontroversialdiscussionofChinaEnglishhasbegunsincetheendof1980s,firstfocusingonthedefinitionofandtheattitudestowardsit,andgraduallyshiftingtothetentativeexplorationsofitslinguisticfeatures,oneofwhichisitssyntacticstructure.Despitetheseexplorations,thestudyofthecharacteristicsofSSCEisnotarealsystematicalanalysisbasedonChinaEnglishandStandardEnglish.First,mostfeaturesofSSCEarejustattachedtoothermoreimportantstudytargetsofChinaEnglish,sothesefeaturesaresporadic.Second,theseexplorationsdonotbaseonquantitativeanalysis.Third,thescholarshavejustfocusedonthedifferencesofthesyntacticstructureofChineseandEnglish,andaccordingtothesedifferences,theymadesomeconclusionsofthedifferencesofthesyntaxbetweenChinaEnglishandStandardEnglish.ThepurposeofthisthesisistogiveaquantitativestudyonthecharacteristicsofSSCE.ChapteroneisageneralreviewofthedevelopmentofandthestudyonChinaEnglishandthepositivenessofthestudyonChinaEnglishisconfirmedinthisthesis.Chaptertwoisananalysisbasis.First,fourterms--ChinaEnglish,ChineseEnglish,StandardEnglishandNonstandardEnglish--aredistinguished,andtherelationshipofthisfourternsareexaminedinaprototypicalperspective.Thedistinctionandtherelationofthemarethebasisforthecorpusdesign.ThensomeviewpointsoftheCharacteristicsofSSCEsuggestedinprev
