Urban roads Traffic Coordination Control Design
As is known to all, intersection is the weak link of traffic network in urban road and traffic jam is easily formed at the peak period of traffic. In order to provide some important traffic volume parameters for planning and construction of urban road net, the basic characteristics of intersection traffic volume are analysed and shot-time traffic volume are predicted. All this will make significant directions for raising the service level of urban road, improving the function of urban road net and increasing the traffic capacity and security. Traffic volume, which means the vehicle number of crossing a certain section at unit time, is an important parameter for describing the traffic flow characteristics. The mainly measuring methods of traffic volume are manual count method, mechanical count method, video method and aerial photographic method. Manual count method is a methed which can be used at anytime and anywhere to investigate the traffic volume. It has many advantages, such as distinguishing the vehicle type and traffic direction, not complicated, easy operation, high definition, easy data treatment and low cost. So it is a common method for traffic investigation and is used in this paper.
At a grade intersection, a conflict area is a space which traffic units in different flow directions have to pass. A critical point is the most dangerous point in the conflict area.
