He recieved Chinese Translation Culture Lifetime Achievement Award(翻译文化终身成就奖） in 2010. “书销中外六十本， 诗译英法第一人” Three Beauties Thoery Xu Yuanchong first came up with the thoery of three beauties---ideological/semantic beauty, sound/music beauty and formal beauty in 1979. Among them, the ideological beauty is of the first importance; the sound beauty is of the second-rank importance; the formal beauty is of the third-rank importance.
