Students: 58 students in Grade 1 in NO1 middle school
Lesson duration: 45mins.
Teaching aims
1. Enable the students to describe people’s current situations.
2. Train the students’ speaking ability by expressing their opinions on looking good and feeling good.
3. Learn how to keep healthy and stay beautiful.

Step1 Lead-in
1. Let the students enjoy some pictures about some beauties and some handsome young men and ask students some questions:
Are these beauties and some handsome young men good looking and feeling good?
Do you want to be as beautiful and attractive as them?
2.Ask the students to say something about an unpleasant picture and answer this question:
Do they look good and feel good? Why?
3. Ask the students to answer the following two questions concerning themselves:
Do you think appearance plays an important part in your life?
Which do you think is more important, looking good or feeling good?
Step2Talking about the four pictures in Page 41
Choose one picture and make a conversation
For example:
D—Doctor G—Girl
D: What’s the matter?G: I’m not feeling well, doctor.D: What did you do last night?G: I stayed up late to do exercise to keep slim.D: Why do you want to be so slim?G: It’s a fashion. All girls want to be slim.
D: Then, have you ever taken any medicine?G: Yes, I took the weight-loss pills.D: I know the problem. You should stop taking the medicine and get enough sleep to stay healthy.
