Objectives:1).Read and understand the passage in general;
2).Get aware of the passive and practise using in situations.
Teaching Procedures:
1. Read the article and then answer questions about the photos.
1) How long do you think it took to make them?
2) What materials are they made of?
2.Read the text again and underline the sentences in passive.
3. Match the reasons for using the passive (a-c) with the sentences(1-3) from the text.
a) to focus on the action rather than the doer. ( 3 )
b) to put special emphasis on the doer. ( 1 )
c) to avoid having a long subject in an active sentence. ( 2 )

5. (Focus)Complete the following sentences. A.(the Predicate)
Christo Jeanne-Claude had finished several projects, one of which was called (call) Surrounded Islands. Eleven islands were surrounded (surround) by a lot of pink plastics. At first, many people thought that permission to wrap up the German Parliament building wouldn’t be given (give), and some thought the project should never have been allowed (never allow). However when the wrapping had been completed (complete), the glowing building received international acclaim.
