Background information: Students: 35 college seniors, majored in English Lesson duration: 40 minutes Teaching aims: To clarify the importance of psychological factors during job hunting. To introduce the types of interview they may cope with in different situations. To illustrate the essential manners and rules in job interviews to students. To have them practice the dialogue and brainstorm questions in job interview. To enhance students’ ability in dealing with a job interview. Teaching aids: PPT, blackboard, chalks, and handouts. Teaching contents: Job Interviewing for College Students Types of Interviews ABC憇 of InterviewingJ Interviewing skills Teaching procedures: Step 1: A brief introduction about job interview(5minutes) Warm up: stating facts that students are hunting jobs recently; Make students understand the vital role of job interview. Step 2: Learning types of interview (10minutes) Use examples and pictures to show students the detail information; Students get to know the manners and rules in an interview; Questioning students by “what should you do under… circumstance?” Step 3: Suggestions about basic job interviewing skills (5minutes) Pair-work: to share the common and ordinary skills students already know; Making comments on students opinions. Step 4: More practice---Q and A part (10minutes) Assuming a situation in an interview; Using PPT to ask student certain questions; E.g.: What types of positions are you looking for? Giving students comments on their point of view, also suggestions. Step 5: Group work (10minutes) Role play: to let students play roles as employers and students; 4 students in a group: to discuss some questions for HR and employees; Conclusion: summarize the contents of this class. Teaching techniques: Task-based language teaching, Questioning in the classroom, Students group Role play Homework: Practice oral English which related to an interview; Search on the Internet to find out what experienced people do during an interview R
