Do the Best with What God Gave You I don’t know why our lives differ from one another greatly. Somebody is born into a family with considerable wealth and dignity while somebody even bears no food to eat. Somebody wins lotteries time and again, as opposed to someone who still can find no way to claim back their salaries. There’s always something we can hardly change, for instance, our family background, luck; yet still, something is changeable if you do the best with what God gave you, just as what Forrest Gump did. There’s no denying that Forrest Gump, a well-known local idiot in Alabama, is not smarter than most of us. However, with an IQ of 75 points only, Forrest was a successful football and ping-pong player who won the privilege of being received by American presidents twice; with a na?ve but sincere heart, he was honored as the Vietnam War hero and established a shrimp corporation named “Bubba Gump” in memory of his dear fellow, through which he became a millionaire; with a perseverant belief, he ran for 3 years 2 months 14 days and 16 hours, during which time he travelled across almost the whole America, which sparked quite a stir among American citizens. He was simple, too simple to be afraid and ambitious. Because of his limited intelligence given by God, he did nothing for particular reason; however, he did everything to the best of his ability. I can well remember that when Forrest was commanded to tear a gun open and reinstall it, he was never distracted by Bubba who kept talking about shrimps; when he first started his shrimp-catching job and got nothing but rubbish, he didn’t resign or complain, even when Hurricane Carmen came through. There’s no lack of people who are so favored by God that almost obtained everything from him finally spoil all their talents, simply because they possess too much at the very beginning and scarcely know there’s still something can only be achieved through unceasing pragmatic efforts.
