The Arts at DartingtonDartington International Summer School Future sleeping and studio accommodation The Arts at Dartington Dartington International Summer School (DISS) DISS is part of the Arts at Dartington and is a key feature of our arts programme. There will be some changes on the Estate now that the College has relocated to Falmouth, but DISS will continue to take place at Dartington well into the future. This presentation is designed to inform you about the future accommodation solutions for DISS. Future accommodation: The Facts 2011: Sleeping accommodation: No change in terms of rooms available West wing of courtyard refurbished 2011: Studio accommodation: Some teaching rooms in Lower Close will no longer be available, however….. We will have access to teaching spaces in Higher Close instead Individual practice rooms will be provided (we are planning to retain the existing practice rooms) If we find we are a bit short of teaching space, we have the option of timetabling the day slightly differently so that all courses can be accommodated Hex and Gym remains available to Summer School Future accommodation: The Facts 2012: Sleeping accommodation: Foxhole and Postern no longer available Therefore: We are planning to invest in a new accommodation solution at Barton Farm Site (Diagram 1 fig 1). Accommodation will be new, en-suite in single or twin rooms (Diagram 2). This investment will allow us to accommodate everyone who wants to stay on-site (nearer the Courtyard). The accommodation will be of a high standard but not a ‘new build’, i.e., not permanent. If Dartington can justify the future investment it may invest in permanent new accommodation, assuming Dartington can prove a year round demand. We will ensure the accommodation is affordable: it will cater for those who value a lower cost accommodation option. Higher Close – refurbished with additional rooms available.
