The Failure of the American Dream—Analysis of The Great Gatsby Abstract Jay Gatsby is the victim of American dream and his life is full of tragedy, ranging from his dream and his pursuit of the dream to the wreckage of his dream. He is best known for his novels and short stories, which vividly describes how to lose oneself to achieve the ultimate ideal of disillusion in the process of chasing dream for the post-war American younger generation.
