Methods The patients with type 2 diabetes from December 2011 to November 2012 in our hospital were divided into the traditional mode education group and the nursing pathway education group according to the different nursing methods， every group had sixty patients. The patients in the observation group were given the health education by using the clinical nursing pathway， while the patients in the control group were given the health education by using the traditional mode， and the patients in the two groups were said to have been accepted and mastered the content of instruction when discharged from hospital. The compliance behavior of patients were evaluated at the end of 6 months after discharge from hospital by the self-designed questionnaire.
