從中西方的書院傳統談大學宿舍的改造 彭宗平2009.12.23 談到大學的書院（college），很多人第一個直覺的印象便是聯想到英國牛津大學與劍橋大學的書院。陳之藩先生在1970年前後所著《劍河倒影》對劍橋大學的書院有極生動與深刻的描述，看過陳先生筆下所描述的劍橋大學，無不心嚮往之。根據劍橋大學對書院的定義與介紹，書院是學生居住、飲食與社交的場所，而且學生可以在書院接受小組的教學（“A college is where students live, eat and socialize. It is also the place where students receive small group teaching sessions, known as supervisions.”）。在書院內，教職員生來自不同領域，互相切磋，自由交換意見，甚至創造出許多新公司（“Within each college, staff and students of all disciplines are brought together. This cross-fertilization has encouraged the free exchange of ideas which has led to the creation of a number of new companies.”）。
