AbstractWith the development of social and economic, socio-professional and technical positions shift from mid-level to high-level. As a result, vocational students in the process of higher vocational education course will complete the basic objectives. First, the “adaptation to the job, personal development, social development” is the fundamental purpose. Second, “learning how to learn, how to innovate” is the basic methods. Third, “strengthening vocational skills and professional qualities” is the means and main content. This will be a new challenge for vocational schools, especially to higher vocational schools, therefore, this essay selected a higher vocational schools in Lanzhou as the study field, using the participant observation with deep interviews and questionnaires to make field study of the present situation of students’ concept of talent in higher vocational school.The research results find that the vocational students’ growth view is positive and healthy on the whole, but there are still some problems to be paid attention to. For example, higher vocational school students’ measurement of talent formation is mainly determined by improving their own ability and quality, and they consider the professional knowledge and skills is an important sign of talent formation, but ignore the level of education; seen from the motives of talent formation, they highlight the realization of personal dreams but seem to be vague when talking about concrete ideal; from the options of talent formation paths, they pay more attention to improve their own ability rather than rely on the opportunities and other’s help, however, due to the neglect of the level of education, we can see that the higher vocational school students are lack of the necessary self-motivation; from the influencing factors, they attribute the primary factor to internal one, meanwhile they regard the social environment factors as important as well.As mentioned above, the four aspects associated with gui
