AbstractWith the large-scale population of information system, business rules have been the important assets and intangible resources of enterprises and institutions. Business rules often change according to business requirements, which leads to the lack of effective approaches of informatization. In general case, business rules executed by information system are compiled into source codes. However, the constant renewed business rules lead to the frequent changes of program code as well as its compilation, debugging, deployment and verification, which increase the development and maintenance work of information system. With the appearance of rule engine technology, the changing business logic and business rules can be compiled into rule configurations, so that the relative rules can be called relevantly by rule configurations at run time, avoiding reconfiguring frequently program codes.With the modern development in medical field and implementation of non-paper cases as well as synchronization of network, HIS has been assembled gradually by hospitals of all levels in China. In the traditional HIS, nevertheless, the contradictions between prescription verification and the drug demand are increasingly outstanding, which can be well solved by the rule engine.This paper introduces the management technology and correlation theory of business rules, also analyzes the rule engine and studies each part of ILOG JRules, including establishments of rule object models; relative types of structure rules of programming language; the construction, integration and final management of rule application. At last, the paper puts forward a complete design scheme of auditing system of antibiotic drug prescription with ILOG JRules, together with system integration scheme and design scheme of system report library. Applying business rules to software engineering (SE) is shown. The operation and audit findings of rule engine in system are also shown by examples in the article.Keywords:Rule
