摘要许渊冲可谓全世界有史以来将中国古典诗词同时译为英、法韵文的第一人。在六十多年的翻译生涯中，他已在国内外出版了六十余本中、英、法文的作品，为促进世界文化交流，尤其为弘扬中国文化和提高中国文学在世界上的地位做出了巨大贡献。纵观其译著和译述，美学追求一直贯穿在其翻译生涯的始终。可以说，“求美”是许渊冲翻译活动和翻译思想的灵魂。在翻译研究“文化转向”的大背境下，本研究将从社会文化角度出发，基于图里的翻译规范理论，以不同历史阶段社会文化背景下许渊冲的翻译行为（译本选择和翻译策略）和翻译思想为研究对象，运用实证研究方法，对不同历史阶段许渊冲的译本选择、翻译策略和翻译思想进行客观描述，然后依次探究其翻译行为和思想的社会文化规约及其中所反映的文化精神，进而深入了解许渊冲美学翻译背后的社会文化实质。此个案研究不仅有助于认识许渊冲的个性美学翻译及其潜在的社会文化规约，而且也有助于理解翻译过程中社会文化对译者规约的内在作用机制。通过许渊冲个案研究，本研究得出以下结论：第一，社会文化对译者个体追求引导下的翻译行为有不同的影响程度。在一种翻译行为中，社会文化的作用较之个人追求会大一些；而在另一种翻译行为上，个人追求则起主导作用，而这种作用也在这同一种翻译行为中因不同的社会文化语境而体现出程度上的差异。第二，译者个体追求在不同时期因社会文化制约的强弱程度而表现出不同的受影响方式和结果。社会文化制约程度较强时，个体追求在翻译中的作用就会减弱或处于隐性状态；社会文化制约程度较弱时，它的作用便会加强或被显性言说。第三，译者个体追求引导下的翻译思想也随着社会文化的发展变化而逐步发展成熟，进而体现出社会文化语境对其翻译思想的规约。同时，译者翻译行为和翻译思想中所体现出的译者文化精神也随着社会文化规约的强弱程度而呈现出隐性存在或显性言说的不同表现形态。关键词：社会文化规约；译者；许渊冲；译本选择；翻译策略；翻译思想ivAbstractXuYuanzhongisthefirstoneintheworldwhohastranslatedagreatnumberofclassicalChinesepoemsintotherhymedversionsofbothEnglishandFrench.Duringhistranslationcareerofoversixtyyears,hehaspublishedmorethansixtyworksinChinese,EnglishandFrench,makingagreatcontributiontotheworldculturalexchanges,especiallypromotingtheChinesecultureandraisingthestatusofChineseliteratureintheworld.Whenwemakeasurveyofhistranslationcareer,hispersonalpursuitofbeautyrunsthroughit.“Thepursuitofbeauty”canberegardedasthesoulofhistranslationpracticeandthoughts.Inthecontextof“culturalturn”intranslationstudies,thisstudy,fromtheperspectiveofsocio-culture,basedonToury’stranslationnormstheory,takingXuYuanzhong’stranslationbehaviors(selectionofsourcetextsandtranslationstrategies)andtranslationthoughtsastheobjectsofstudyandbymeansofanempiricalmethod,objectivelydescribeshisselectionofsourcetexts,translationstrategiesandthoughtsofdifferenthistoricalperiodsandthenexplorestheirsocio-culturalconstraintsandhisculturalideologiesreflectedfromthem.ThiscasestudyofXuYuanzhongmaynotonlydeepenourunderstandingofXuYuanzhong,hisaesthetictranslationpracticeandtheory,andtheunderlyingsocio-culturalconstraintsonthem,butalsofacilitateus
