Aperformancecomparisonof3Dand2DmenusformobilephonesAbstractMenuasanimportantinteractionofmobilephoneinterfacecomponents,isoneoftheimportantresearchfieldsofhuman-computerinterface.3Dmenusrefertothethree-dimensionalscreen-basedmenus,addingdepthtotraditional2Dmenuswhichonlyhavethelengthandwidth,therebyformingthree-dimensionalmenus.Mostofthepreviousmenusergonomicsresearchismainlyfocusedonthetraditional2Dmenus，and3Dmenusonmobilephonearerarelytosee,especiallyergonomicsresearchfor3Dmenus.Whether3Dmenushaveahigheroperationperformanceandbettersubjectiveexperiencethantraditional2Dmenuaretobeempiricalresearch.Bymanipulatingtheamountofinformationandmemoryload(taskcomplexity),thesearchperformanceandsubjectiveevaluationof3Dmenusand2Dmenuswerecomparedinthestudy,andtheinfluencesofadvancenoticeprocessingto3Dmenussearchperformancewereverifiedfurtherly,thedesignofmobilephone3Dmenusguidancesuggestionswereputforwardatlast,providedsomereferencefordesignersthatwhethertouse3Dmenusinthespecificmobileapplication.Inthisstudytherewerethreeexperiments.Inexperiment1,thesearchperformanceandsubjectiveevaluationof3Dmenusand2Dmenuswerecomparedatdifferentamountofinformationthroughthetargetsearchtask.Byincreasingthememoryloadofincreasedthenumberoftargetslevelinthesearchtask,experiment2comparedthesearchperformanceandsubjectiveevaluationof3Dmenusand2Dmenusatdifferentamountofinformationinthehighmemoryload.Onthebasisoftheexperiment1,experiment3comparedthesearchperformanceofthreekindsofmenus(3Dmenusofbothsidesblurred,3Dnormalmenus,2Dmenus)atdifferentamountofinformationanddiscussedtheinfluencesofadvancenoticeprocessingto3Dmenussearchperformance.Theexperimentresultsshowedthefollowingthreeconclusions：Whenthelowlevelsofthetargetamountandmemoryloadintargetsearchtask,3Dmenusaresuperiorto2Dmenuswhetheronsearchperformanceoruserpreferences;butwhenthehighlevelsofthetargetamountandmemoryload,althoughtheusersubjectivelyprefer3DIVmenus,but3Dmenusnoadvantagefromthepointofsearchperformance,evenworseperformance.whenthelev
