OnExplanationandCulturalConnotationofPointNamesofAcupunctureandMoxibustionABSTRACTObjective:Throughdetailedtextualanalysisofthetwelvemeridiansandthefivetransportingacupoint’sdenotationandconnotation，summarizetheirnamingrulesandmethods，inordertogiveanexplanationaboutacupoint’snameandprovideadviceandreferenceinformationforresearchinTraditionalChineseMedicinenomenclature.Methods:Carefullystudytheavailableliteratureaboutacupoints’sname，andthewidelyaccessibletreatisesofSinology，TCMandotherrelateddocuments，whilemakingreferencetothetext，phonology，andtraditionalChineseculturethroughexternalevidence，internalevidence，multi-evidence，etc.Usemedicalhistoryliteratureresearchandanalyzeinformationtodetermineoriginofacupoints’name.Results:Throughthisresearchofthetwelvemeridiansandthefivetransportingacupoint’snamingprinciplesandmethodsgainamorecurrentandsystematicunderstanding.Thisstudywilladdsignificancetothenamingofacupointsandthecontentswillpromotein-depthstudiesofTraditionalChinesemedicalliterature.Conclusion:IntheHuangdiNeijingmeridiansandacupointnamesincludeHeavenandMan，YinandYang，thefiveelements，BaGuaandothertraditionaldoctrinesofphilosophy，andorganandmeridianindications，anatomyandphysiology，locationofacupoints，treatmentmethodsinmedicaltheory.Thisthesisissummarizedthroughrelevantresearch，andconcludesthatacupointnameshaveacertainregularity，specificmethodsofcomparedimagery，functionaldenotation，featuredescriptions.ThisstudyisabranchofTraditionalChineseMedicineculturalstudies，andalongwithsimilarstudiesconductedwillpromotein-depthresearchonChineseliterature.Keywords:acupoints;nomenclature;culture引言腧穴又称穴道、孔穴、砭灸处、刺激点等，现代称穴位。?腧?含有输转运行之意，故古代又写做?输?；?穴?含有孔穴之意，意味气血所注之处如孔穴。由于人身孔穴，皆气所居，是?脉气所发?之处，故《内经》又称?气穴?。在春秋战国时期以前，是用?以痛为腧?的方法来治病的穴位；战国以后，《内经》总结了穴位治病规律，有了各种穴名的出现。唐〃孙思邈《千金翼方》云：?凡诸孔穴，名不徒设，皆有深意?。说明经穴各有其内在的涵义，其中包括了经穴所在部位的局部解剖性特征、穴位与脏腑经络的联系、穴位的功用、经络的流注等多层涵义。本论文选取十二经脉五腧穴的穴名进行考释，在借助前人研究的基础上做进一步研究。首先从语言文字学角度，挖掘五腧穴的语源意义；其次结合其医学功能、方诊主治等阐述其医学内涵；再次从哲学、历史、习俗等文化角度，考察其文化内涵。此项研究不仅可以汇聚前人的精辟论述，亦可对腧穴名称的内涵作进一步
