This re-emphasised some aspects which had previously been ambiguous, and introduced a new emphasis on planning, continual improvement and Customer focus. At the same time, it reduced its previous insistence on having procedures for everything. Whereas the 1994 version had twenty requirements for procedures, the 2000 version has 6 (with another 2 requirements, where necessary).
