II II Abstract Computer technology, microelectronics technology and communication technology promote the rapid development of wireless sensor network. The research of wireless sensor network has started. However, on the one hand the wireless links are unreliable, and the sensor network is often used in harsh environment, on the other hand, people are pursuing diversity of network service and higher quality of wireless communication transmission. So in the research of wireless sensor network technology, it is very important to improve the reliability of data transmission. While the proposition of network coding points out a new direction to improve the reliability of data transmission. Based on the comprehensive understanding of the relevant knowledge of network coding, deep research in reliable data transmission technology is going on. A basic model of unicast and A single source and single hop transmission model of broadcast are proposed, and according to the characteristics of the models, the effect of network coding on the reliability of the data transmission is confirmed. For broadcast network model, a detailed coding algorithm of network coding is proposed to improve the reliability of data transmission. Then the unicast model and the broadcast model are applied in wireless sensor network including the topology of star network and cluster tree network. Combined with the broadcasting retransmission scheme, frame structure of the MAC layer and retransmission mechanism in IEEE802.15.4 is correspondingly modified. At last, according to the different decoding strategy, two dynamic retransmission mechanisms called circulation mechanism and recursive mechanism for WSN are proposed. Simulation results show that they have obvious advantages in improving the data transmission reliability.
