* HP template * The three key trends in the server market are unit volume, price and disk capacity. The forecasted volume of servers is predicted to increase substantially through the next 4 years to over 8 million units per annum, with the growth being in the sub-$6k and sub-$3k categories. In the past 2 years the pricing expectation for the servers have changed dramatically with 75% of servers now being sold at under $6k with this percentage expected to increase still further as the server market grows. Just 2-3 years ago it was the sub-$10k market that was growing. The tape connect rate to servers is difficult to predict, though as can be seen on the next slide it is not expected to decline substantially. Hard disk drive capacity continues to increase with the sub-70 GB being the sweet spot in 2003. By 2004, this will have moved to the sub 100 GB category.
