T he physica l significances em bedded in asw e ll as the reso lut ion character- istics o f the H ilbert spectrum, the Fourier amp litude spectrum, and theM orlet w ave let spectrum are com pared. It is dem onstrated that, as com pared w ith F ourier am p litude spectrum, H ilbert spectrum is mo re direct in describing som e tmi e-de
