Existing from Liaoning Province to Northeast China, it is an ethnic craftsmanship which has been innovated and accumulated through Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China. Liao embroidery shows northeast people’s pursuit of beauty ,through dense color ,freedom-loving but delicate form of artistic presentation. Liao embroidery doesn’t only record the history of embroidery development of northeast region, but also keeps the characteristics of traditional folk art, and also has been applied for various northeast folk activities during different times, carrying social etiquettes and folklores, or history stories. The products of Liao embroidery has multiple use, like making clothes , accessories, pillow top and embroidery paintings. 。 There are many mounting methods as different use of Liao embroidery, like making clothes or embroidery on clothes. because of tangled war fares of modern warlords and arrival of shading products from Britain after Industrial Revolution, development of embroidery almost stopped developing during the Republic of China period, embroidery in northeast was sagging accordingly, artists of embroidery became less and less, which makes only a few preservation. It is rare to see the art treasures of Liao embroideries nowadays as it fails to be handed down from past generations.
