华 华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 II II Abstract Shi Liangcai was the proprietor of the business newspaper which had the longest history and most influence in old China.At that time, as the leader of China press, he not only pushed the development of “Shen Bao” to reach great height,but also brought the modernization of Chinese private newspaper into an unprecedented golden period of development.Apart from several newspapers liked“Shen Bao” ,“Xinwen Bao”and a news agency,more than 20 factories and enterprises had been lounched or invested by him, because of that he had tremendous impact in the field of press,finance,industry,culture and so on.This article aims at carding the different period social practical activity of Shi Liangcai, concluding the dominating social role which correspondes with his social practice,then ascertaining his subjectival role , on the basis of a comparative analysis. This article first makes a carding for education practice,industy practice and political activity of Shi Liangcai,those practice and activities happened before he acquired Shen Bao(1880 ～ 1911).Secondly,making a thorough explanation of his news practice , role conflicts in news practice and industry activity he dabbled, which happened befor “9·18” incident explodeed.Thirdly,giving a in-depth analysis for his behavior of press reform, resist against Japan and game played with Chiang Kai-shek,these things occurred in the time of Anti-Japanese War. In the last, on the basis of role discrimination ,to make sure which his subjectival role is . This study suggests that ,educator and industrialist is the main role in his first period, newspaper capitalist and industrialist is the main role in his second period,in the third period, his role approachs partizan.Although Shi Liangcai took participate in a number of social activities and acted as lots of roles, but on the whole,the undertaking on running newpaper stayed at the central position from the beginning to the end, newspaper capitalist
