By using master production scheduling (MPS), you can create a coordinated master plan for specific materials. Once the demand program has been determined, procurement and production of the assemblies and components is initiated. The following times are taken into account when determining the basic dates: goods receipt processing time in-house production time opening period The in-house production time is calculated by adding together the lead time and the floats (float before production, float after production, and so on). The opening period reflects the processing time that the MRP controller requires to convert planned orders. If, for materials that are planned using the MRP procedure or the forecast-based planning procedure, the order start date that was calculated in backward scheduling lies in the past, then the system will automatically switch to forward scheduling. The current date is set as the order start date and the system plans in the future. A production order is always created on the basis of an order proposal. During order creation, data can be copied from the planned order as well as from the selected routing. There are different ways of creating a production order.
