Abstract The destruction of the Ali al-Hadi Mosque has a profound impact, which has opened the container of
Pandora, caus ng disaster and evil, scandal and blood, rage and despair, clouding above Iraq. The reconstruction of Iraq is
full of many uncertainties. The destroying of the Mosque has given rise to a series of riots, and the conflicts between Shia
and Sunni also have weakened the national identity of Iraqi people. Iraqi problem has become an important means of
U.S.-Iranian political dealing. The nation building will doom to be a failure in Iraq, the American anti-terror battle. Hence,
the U.S. is in an embarrassing dilemma and the prospect of Iraqi reconstruction is still full of troubles. Hence, the
symbolic functions of the Ali al-Hadi Mosque have taken great practical effects.
