Based on the G IS softw are platform, and using Guangxi fundamental geographic data on the scale of 1 to 250000, the indices of cold damage in Guangxiw ere reckoned on the little grids of 1km @ 1km. the spatial distribution of cold damage for early rice in Guangxiw ere analyzed by the GIS technique, wh ich gave out the d ivisional result of cold damage: zero, light, moderate and serious degrees, the assessment and suggestion for different cold damage regionsw ere put forw ard.
