As a military fan,while hearing the news, I feel very excited and proud. So, today Id like to talk about our first aircraft carrier,the CV-16 Liaoning”and its carrier-based fighter J-15.The Liaoning ship, hull number 16, is the first aircraft carrier commissioned into the Peoples Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). The carrier, rebuilt from the fomer Soviet ship Varyag, was renamed Liaoning and underwent years of refitting efforts to install engines, weapons, as well as a year-long sea trial. “liaoning” originally laid down as the Kuznetsov class(库兹涅佐夫级) aircraft carrier Riga(里加号) for the Soviet Navy, she was launched on December 4, 1988 and renamed Varyag(瓦良格) in 1990. The ship was purchased in 1998 by China and towed to Dalian Shipyard in north eastern China. At this point, it has just completed 70%. On August 10, 2011, the Varyag began she first sea trials. On June , 2011, the Chief of the General Staff of the PLA confirmed that Beijing was building an aircraft carrier, marking the first acknowledgement of the ships existence from Chinas armed forces. He said that the carrier is being built, but has not been completed. All of the great nations in the world own aircraft carriers — they are symbols of a great power.““Only great country can build it.”by 马卡洛夫 On August , 2011, she docked in Dalian, completing its first four-day sea trial.On November 29, 2011 the carrier left port for its second set of trials.In December 2011 the ship was photographed by satellite while undertaking sea trials. The carrier completed its eighth sea trial in, 2012 and returned to Dalian. In July 2012, the ship set out for the longest sea trials for 25 days, and there was speculation that this would have involved testing the launching and recovery of aircraft.
