With the continuous improvement of peoples living standards, the incidence of cancer has increased year by year, studies have reported the incidence of colorectal cancer (colon plus rectal cancer) has ranked third (the first two digits are the lung and gastric cancer), probably by 2015 the incidence of colorectal cancer will be more than lung cancer and gastric cancer, occupying the first.Therefore, the research on the diagnosis and treatment of rectal cancer is a very important issue. Purpose ： By comparison with traditional open Miles and the Dixion surgical treatment of low rectal cancer, comparative analysis of laparoscopic safety and feasibility. Methods: A retrospective study from January 2010 to December 2012 in our hospital patients with low rectal cancer surgery 117 cases, with the laparoscopic group of 56 patients, following the full TME the Miles and Dixion technique of of the principle of laparoscopic low rectal cancer; laparotomy group 61 patients underwent conventional open surgery. The comparative analysis of the two groups of patients operative time, blood loss, postoperative recovery of bowel unction,postoperative hospital stay. Results：The laparoscopic group blood loss, intestinal recovery time, length of hospital stay were significantly less than the laparotomy group, and the operation time compared with open surgery difference is not obvious. Conclusion： Compared with open operation ， the laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of low rectal cancer has features like low trauma,early postoperative recovery and less complications.And with the application of laparoscopy and its becoming more and more mature,the operation time would not longer than open operation, and to patients with low rectal cancer,sphincter preservation may
