A b s tr a c t H D M I (H igh -D efin ition M u ltim ed ia In terface) is an in d u stry stan dard for creatin g au dio an d v id eo conn ection s b etw een h igh -d efinition electron ic d evices. H D M I su pp o rts tw o -w ay digital com m un ication b etw een th e v id eo sou rce an d th e video disp lay w ith on e cab le.T he sim p le cabling sch em e has m ad e H D M I popu lar for h o m e th eatre setu p s. In this p ap er, th e b asic elem ents, p h y sics fram e , electrical ch aracteristic an d som e k ey techn iqu es for H D M I d esign are firstly introdu ced . T h en , th e an aly sis an d design o f I2 C lev el sh ifter an d D C -D C conv erter in on e chip sup p o rtin g th e H D M I interface in p ortab le ap p lication are p resented . T h e w h o le d esign is b ased on 0 .3 5 urn B C D p rocess an d th e fun ctio n al v erification is u sin g th e S p ectre sim u lator. T o en su re th e im p lem en tation of b asic design features，each o f th ese sub -m o du les is sim u lated . T h e m ain m odu les in clu d e a ban dgap referen ce, com p arator, glitch filter， error am p lifier, o scillator, an d ov erv oltage toleran ce circuit. T h e b andg ap referen ce m odu le is a new structure w ith o ut b u ilt-in op am p , an d its to tal curren t is less th an 3 /jA . O v ervo ltag e toleran c e circu it also u ses a n ew sk ill to effectiv ely prev ent cu rren t in tru sion p h en om en o n occurred w h en th e p ort v oltage is larg er th an th e sup p ly v o ltage.A t th e en d ,th e th esis h as d on e th e fun ctio n al verificatio n o f th e o v erall circuit, an d it sh o w s th at th e desig n can en ab le b idirection al tran slatio n from as lo w as 1.2 V v o ltage lev el to 5V (H D M I cab le sid e) v o ltag e lev el w ith out d egradation of sy stem p erform an ce. T h e ch ip can also pro vide a stab le 5V pow er output an d driv e the H D M I 5V p in w ith out an on -b o ard p ow e
