Abstract With the rapid development of internet, developing the program of server end based on B/S has already become an important part in developing Web applications. In the existing Web development, MVC design pattern provides the helpful ideas for the system interface, control processes and business logic of isolation and effective package. Thus there emerge many Web application frameworks based on the MVC pattern at J2EE platform. However EJB, the core criterion of J2EE, has serious defect itself. It is too unwieldy for general Web application and Entity Bean, the EJB’s O/R Mapping solution, has been proved an unsuccessful technology. Therefore, for many SMEs Web applications, it is the urgent need to introduce a lightweight Web framework to meet demand and reduce the realization difficulty of system and development cost. So this paper introduces a lightweight Web development framework Spring and recommends its two key mechanisms IoC and AOP by analyzing its principle and realization. It points out that the Spring framework based on the two key mechanisms can be suitable for the majority request of the general Web application in the function, performance and structure. Because of the character of “no intrusiveness”, Spring framework can easily integrate Hibernate O/R Mapping framework to replace the Entity Bean’s solution. On this basis, this paper puts forward the application-oriented and extensible Web application framework SH_Webapp, which integrates Spring and Hibernate framework. The core of the SH_Webapp framework is Spring. The SH_Webapp framework is divided into the view layer, business logic layer, persistance layer, domain object layer and data resource layer. The lightweight Web development framework Spring provides the framework support for the SH_Webapp and the O/R Mapping framework Hibernate provides the persistance layer support for it.
