cross-sectional study panel studies Abstract The study intends to explore the processes of political socialization among university students, and examine change and continuity of political values and attitudes among university students. We will conduct first-wave survey two weeks after freshmen enter university, and make follow-up survey one month before the end of spring semester. These panel studies and examine the effect of first-year university education. There are limited resources for political socialization studies in Taiwan, so only cross-sectional studies conducted. We are unable to observe change and continuity of people’s political attitudes and values by employing only cross-sectional studies, so longitudinal research design is needed. Therefore, we will employ four-year panel studies to follow the processes of political socialization among university students during their four years in college.
