Classification: According to the effects and properties of the drugs, hemostatics are divided into four types: stopping bleeding by clearing heat from blood, by astringency, by resolving blood stasis, by warming the channels. Clinical using epistaxis, hemoptysis, haematemesis, metrorrhagia, traumatic bleeding, and other kinds of bleeding. Corresponding hemostatics should be selectively used according to the cause of bleeding and in reasonable compatibility with other drugs. Inappropriate use of hemostatics tend to cause blood stasis. Therefore, when hemostatics are used, blood stasis should be prevented. Notoginseng(三七) Radix Notoginseng Source: the root of Panax notoginseng(Burk.) F.H. Chen of family Araliaceae. Properties: sweet and slightly bitter in flavour, slightly warm in nature, acting on heart, liver and spleen channels.
