With the rapid development of urbanization and the reinforcement of construction of new village, the link between the increase of urban construction land and the reduction of rural residential land becomes a new idea for a new round of overall planning of land use. Under this background, the study on how to optimize the layout of residential area has practical significance to improve land use efficiency, ease the contradiction between the supply and demand of urban construction land. Center towns are the bond of the connect cities and scattered villages construction. By the integrations of certain rural city organization, industry and space, can effective use of various resources, to promote the rural economy, society and environment coordinated and healthy development. And finally it suppots the effective theoretical support for the center towns’ making. This paper takes Jiangning District as the research area. By using the GIS spatial analysis function and a variety of quantitative analysis method, studys comprehensive characteristics of rural residential areas distribution, to implement the layout of the rural residential areas refactoring and build a system of rural residential layout adjustment scheme.
