PAGE 浙江科技学院学士学位论文 摘 要 托马斯·哈代（Thomas Hardy）作为维多利亚时期最杰出的作家之一，一直关注女性的命运并努力在小说中塑造背离传统价值取向和世俗道德标准的新女性形象。本文首先具体介绍维多利亚时期的女性地位以及女性主义的研究现状，明确本文的研究背景。其次对《还乡》和《无名的裘德》中的女主人公游苔莎和淑两位超越传统的破格行为进行分析，通过对比得出维多利亚时期新女性的共同点；然后通过讨论两位女主人公悲剧结局，得出时代的局限性是导致悲剧的主要原因。最后，通过分析小说中的女性世界来阐释哈代对女性独特的理解和认识，同时也挖掘出由于性别和时代的局限而导致了哈代在女性主义描写上的不足。 关键词：哈代；女性主义；游苔莎；淑 ABSTRACT Thomas Hardy, as one of the most outstanding author in Victorian age, keeps paying attention on female’s destiny and devotes himself to creating new women who deviate from the traditional view of value and moral codes. This paper first introduces women’s status in Victorian age and the current study on feminism, and then analyzes the superior activities of Eustacia and Sue and concludes similarities of new women in Victorian age. Thirdly, it makes a conclusion by discussing the tragic endings that the main cause of the tragedies is the limitation of age. Finally, it realizes Hardy’s advanced and distinctive understanding towards women from the detailed description of females in his novels. And it also discovers Hardy’s restriction of gender and time which reflects on his limitation of describing feminism.
