In the western world, ovarian cancer remains the number one gynecologic killer. The lifetime risk for ovarian cancer in the United States is approximately 1:70 and 1:100 women will die of this disease. Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of death of cancer in women in the United States and accounts for 5% of cancer deaths in women.
