Abstract
Recent years,the educational reform has promoted the innovation and development of the English teaching and the overall English level has been improved all around China.The English Curriculum Standard clearly points out that the English teaching in senior high school should pay attention to cultivating students’critical thinking ability based on their
communicative needs and cognitive level.Besides,in the information era,with the popularity
and development of the Internet,people need to judge and deal with lots of knowledge and information.Thus,according to the needs of the English Curriculum Standard and the era development,its essential to cultivate students’critical thinking ability.
Reading is an important way to grasp the knowledge and the reading ability is one of important skills in English learning.But the reading teaching in senior high school is a little disappointing.The English teacher gives too much importance to words,phrases,sentences
and grammar analysis and guides students little to evaluate and question the text and the
author.Meanwhile,students in the English test show that they have weakness in the critical reading ability.The center of the English reading teaching should be transferred to cultivate students’critical reading ability.In order to cope with the problems in English reading teaching,the research tries to conduct the English critical reading teaching in senior high school to improve the current English reading teaching conditions.
The study is based on the constructivist learning theory and critical discourse analysis theory.The writer states the relative theories such as critical reading and critical teaching and explores the critical reading teaching model by reading the relative literature and combining with the teaching practice.The research adopts questionnaire,test and interview to check whether the critical reading teaching can promote students’use of critical reading skills, improve students’reading p
