Station of Supervise for Construction Engineering Quality of Chenzhou City, Chenzhou 423000, Hunan, China) Abstract: State of the developments of self-compacting concrete (SCC) including design methods and preparation technology is de- scribed in detail. The rheology and workability of SCC as well as corresponding test methods are reviewed. The properties and the microstructure characteristics of SCC in the hardened state and its preparation technology are discussed and are summarized. Finally, the trends in future development including mix proportion design principles and methods for testing and evaluating the workability of SCC and its application techniques are discussed. This research is of great importance for researching quality control methods and assurance measurement with regard to advancement of the application of SCC. Key words: self-compac
