AbstractThis Abstract This thesis is the special topic research on scale design of street space in Beijing old--city． As an important element in a city space，urban street space bears the multiple functions，such as traffic，association，visiting，shopping，etc．So street space is very close to people’life．And，the scale design of sweet space is the key for a street to be charming and comfortable．People are the OwTler ofstreet．So the scale design ofstreet space should answer people first，meet various kinds of demands of people for scale， both on functionally and mentally． With the impact of industry,scale of street space in old ilrba／1-area changed enormously when being reconstructed and extended．This kind of change is for meeting the development of modernized life．But the skin texture of space in old area has been destroyed，such as historic Beijing．The street place that people are familiar with and like has disappeared．In a situation that the city upgrades，how to keep the scale characteristic of street space in Beijing old—city,and create the street place suitable for people’S life，is the subject that this text probes into． This test sets up the basic understanding to scale of street space，with the help of the study on basic conception such as scale，street space and steer place，and also the study on relevant theories，such as outside space design theory and human prehension of space scale．Meanwhile，introduce the history of street space in China and West， and compare the protective measures on street space’S scale in China whit in West． This offered the historical basis for theme．Finally,according to the current situation ofBeijing old—city,present the effective methods on scale design ofstreet space． A large number ofpictures and instance photos have been collected in the article， in order to prove the influence fiom space scale of street on people’S life，and prove the evolution ofStreet． Key words：Street space；scale；Old urban area；PeoplelS scale ．1I- 独创性声明本人声明所呈交的论文是我个人在导师
