The activity of acid p hosp hatase exuded by root s ,t he tissue location of t he enzyme , and t he relationship between t he enzyme activity and p hosp horus efficiency of wheat were studied . The result s showed t hat t he activity of acid ( ) p hosp hatase exuded by wheat 81 85 5333 and N C37 under Psufficiency treat were lower t han t hose under P deficiency , and t he enzyme activity of t he former variety was significantly higher t han t hat of t he latter . There was a significant difference in t he enzyme activity among 12 wheat genotyp es grown under Pdeficiency treat . Acid p hosp hatase was exuded by epidermis cell of root , esp ecially by epidermal cell of root ap ex . Thus , t here was a linear relationship between t he enzyme activity and t he surface area of root or t he number of root ap exes. It implied t hat t he enzyme activity was markedly related to t he size of root system . The linear relationship be tween relative grain yield and acid p hosp hatase activity was significant .
