Abs tract: According to the basic characteristics and geological conditions of slump ing mass, th is paper presents the
smi ulation of the slump ing mass under the natural and rain cond ition to find out safety factors and the location of
slip surface by use of strength reduction finite elementm ethod based onANSYS software. On the basis of the resu lts
of geological investigation and numerical smi u lation , it is concluded that X iaonanhai slumping mass is in the bas-i
cally stable to stable conditions on the w hole. How ever, the lead ing edge slump m ay occur, and if the existing to-
pography changes, the whole slumpingm ass may be instable. Th is paper analyzes the factors lead ing to decline of
slope stability and proposes treatm ent p lans combin ing biological and engineering measures, in order to provide sc-i
entific basis for governance of landslide.
