This p ap er expounded t he definition ,meaning ,and research status of ecosystem services , comp ared t he services of nat ural and artificial ecosystem , and put forward t he protective strategies and approaches of ecosystem services. Ecosys tem services are t hose ecosystem product s and functions t hat contribute to human survival and it s life quality . The op ening of ecosystem is t he basis and premise of ecosystem services. There are many obstacles , such as limitation of knowledge scale and lower living standard ,in t he protection of ecosystem services. Distinct differences exist between natural and artificial systems ,t he latter having no buffers and insurance . Nongovernmental behavior ,governmental be havior ,and economic instrument s are t he strategies and approaches to p
