Teaching goals: ◆ To know what is ad.
To learn and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of ad.
How to write an ad to sell some products.
Teaching procedures:
Step one: Greetings
Step two: Lead-in
Creative some scenes of sale with the pictures and the slogans.
Show students some ads about mobile phone and the ads written in papers which were put up in the street. And lead the students to find out the advantages and disadvantages.
Scene1: Show a real mobile phone to the students and tell them it costs¥1100. Then show the ad of the mobile phone: “Come and buy this mobile phone. It’s convenient to take it anywhere because it is very light and thin. You can surf the Internet with it. You can listen to music with it, and you even can take some beautiful photos with it! The most important thing is that it just costs you ¥100.”
Tell students that this is an ad. Teach the new word “product”.
Ask the whole class some simple questions according to the ad, and ask several students if they like and buy the mobile phone and why.
Try to teach the words “misleading”,“confusing”, “advantages” and “disadvantages”.
Scene2: Show the ads written in papers which were put up in the street. Ask students how they like this kind of ads.
Step three: Reading practice
1. Students read the article carefully and find out one or two sentences to describe the ads we talk about just now (tells the advantages or disadvantages).
(Show the ads on the screen)
