Learn to use the present progressive tense to make short conversations and describe scenes in our daily life. 3. Be motivated to do well what they are doing now. Teaching procedures: Let the students sing with a short video Are you sleeping to lead in today’s topic I’m watching TV. Write the title on the blackboard. Show the students some pictures on the PPT and let them say them in English. read a newspaper make soup wash the dishes go to the movies talk on the phone listen to a CD use the computer exercise clean Review the above words and divide the whole class into two groups, group A and group B. Then play a game Quick Response in this two groups. The teacher points to the Chinese meaning of the words and phrases and the students say it out in English as quickly as they can. The quicker group will get one point. Show the pictures of some students in this class. The teacher asks:“What is/are he/she/they doing?”and the students answer this question according to the picture showed to them. And then the teacher asks:“Is he/she doing….? / Are they doing….? ” Show some pictures with a continuous action and a red colored square put on it to make the students guess what the person is doing now. The teacher asks:“What be sb doing?”and the students stand up to make a guess“Be sb doing…..? ” Play a game “You act, we guess.” Let a boy and a girl come to the blackboard and act out what is on the cards that the teacher shows to them. With a student acting, the teacher asks“What be sb doing?/ Be sb doing? ” Listen to the tape for 1b and answer the following questions: 1. What’s Jenny doing? 2. What’s John doing? 3. Are Dave and Mary making soup? 8. Listen to 2d and fill in the blanks. Then the teacher asks“What’s
