II II Abstract Abstract Development is the eternal theme of human society. As a new development concept that further conforms to the laws of social development, sustainable development has penetrated every field of human life. Financial sustainable development is the fusion of sustainable development concept and the financial development. Financial sustainable development, we can say, is the natural extension and development of financial development. In the light of its status, financial sustainable development is an organic part of the sustainable development of our human society. We generally divide the human sustainable development system into several subsystems such as economic, social and environmental subsystems. We also consider the financial sustainable development as a development system, which is a subsystem of the economic sustainable development system. If we want to study the financial sustainable development, we must make clear its state, which requires a scientific evaluation. The evaluation index system should include two parts: internal index system and external index system. The internal index system includes: basic condition indexes, basic business indexes, financial market indexes, external contact indexes and financial risk indexes. External index system includes economic system and social system. Using the aforementioned index system, SPSS software and the method of factor analysis, this paper conducts an evaluation of the financial sustainable development state of our country from 1993 to 2003 and an analysis of the results, and puts forward some suggestions on this basis.
