Based on t he investigations on t he secondary succession series of forest communities in J inyun Mt . in 1986 and 1996 , t he composition index (CI) was used to process t he ordination of community succession , and to study t he dynamics of sp ecies diversity . The result shows t hat CI would solve t he problem resulted from t he substitution of time wit h sp ace . In t he course of forest secondary succession , t he sp ecies richness tended to increase at t he early stage , and t hen to re duce ; while t he sp ecies evenness did not show any obvious dynamics , which was related to t he intrasp ecific and
