Based on the theory of structural random vibration, the relationship between statistical properties, including themean and va- riance of the structural dynam ic responses, including d isplacement, velocity and acceleration, and structural dam- age location and level is obtained. Through sensitivity analysis, the variance of structural dynam ic d isplacement is selected as a damage index for structuraldamage identification.
