Teaching important points: 1) Master the use of present perfect tense with since and for. 2) Consolidate the target language. 2. Teaching difficult points: How to use the present perfect tense with since and for properly. III. Teaching methods: Task-based method, communicative approach, situational teaching method, etc. IV. Teaching aids: Multimedia computer, etc. V. Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead-in 1. Greetings. 2. Ask some groups to role-play their conversations about a yard sale. Step 2 Presentation 1. Grammar Focus. 1) Lead Ss to read the sentences in the grammar box together. 2) Give Ss several minutes to read and recite the sentences by themselves. 3) Ask Ss to close their books and translate the Chinese into English. 2. The use of present perfect tense with since and for. Help Ss to summarize and consolidate the present perfect tense with since and for. 1) for + 一段时间 2) since + 过去时间点 3) for与since的转换: for + 一段时间 = since + 一段时间+ago 4) since引导时间状语从句 (主句用现在完成时,从句用一般过去时),而for则不能. 3. Do some exercises to consolidate the knowledge. Step 3 Practice 1. Work on Activity 4a. 1) Ask Ss to rewrite the sentences using for or since. 2) Invite some Ss to share their answers and correct mistakes if any. 2. Work on Activity 4b. 1) Ask Ss to read the sentences in 4b and try to fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets. 2) Invite some Ss to check the answers. 3) Prompt Ss
