Abstract A number of corpus studies on translational language hold the belief that the sentence length calculation is an important parameter in the description of the language features. However, the sentence length calculation cannot provide sufficient information in the exploration of the features in translational Chinese. Considering that, the study presents a more effective parameter in describing translational Chinese--the sentence segment length. Moreover, it aims to find out the inter-relations between the sentence segment length and the internal sentence structures in translational Chi
