Abstract ABSTRACT The contrastive study between New Treatise on Consciousness-Only and the Buddhist Consciousness-Only theory is an important part of modern Buddhist Studies.Thispaper makes a comparison of Noumenon and Phenomenon,definition of Sajkleśa and Pariśuddha,mind nature theory and practice theory between Shili Xiong and Vijnaptimātratā theory. Firstly, this paper explains the relationship between Samyag-jñāna and Tathatā on the aspect of Noumenon and Phenomenon.Shili Xiong insists that the Samyag-jñāna and Tathatā are inseparable; while the Vijnaptimātratā considers that Samyag-jñāna and Tathatā are relative. Secondly, this paper explains their difference on Svabhāva-traya . Mr. Xiong advocates that Paratantralakṣaṇam shouldbe left out andputs forwardNeng Xi theory; （能） （习） however, Vijnaptimātratā considers Paratantralakṣaṇam as the foundation . Besides, on the mind nature theory,the former agrees with the Thought of Original Enlightenment,while the latter thinks alike with the Thought of Original Silence.At last,on the aspect ofpracticetheory,the former insistsFan （返）Ben （本） which means to attain noumenon in the way of sudden enlightenment.
